Kentucky's signature requirement. The KYU number is the Kentucky Weight-Distance Tax license, required for vehicles with a combined gross weight over 59,999 lbs operating on Kentucky highways. Weight-distance tax returns are filed quarterly, and the KYU must be renewed.
Vehicles Over 59,999 lbs
The Kentucky Intrastate Tax (KIT) license is required for intrastate carriers operating qualified motor vehicles within Kentucky. Like the KYU, it carries quarterly reporting obligations for vehicles that travel only inside the state.

International Registration Plan apportioned plates, required for interstate carriers with vehicles over 26,000 lbs. Registration fees are apportioned based on the miles traveled in each jurisdiction your fleet operates in.
Interstate Carriers
International Fuel Tax Agreement license for carriers that travel across state lines. Once licensed, you file quarterly fuel tax returns reporting miles and fuel purchased in each member jurisdiction.
Quarterly Returns
Required for for-hire carriers operating solely within Kentucky, where applicable. This state-level authority is separate from federal interstate operating authority and applies to qualifying intrastate movements.
