International Registration Plan apportioned plates for interstate carriers with vehicles over 26,000 lbs. Registration is handled through the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department's Motor Vehicle Division, with fees apportioned by miles traveled in each jurisdiction.
Interstate Carriers
International Fuel Tax Agreement license for qualified motor vehicles. New Mexico-based interstate carriers file quarterly fuel tax returns covering all member jurisdictions. The WDT is separate from and in addition to IFTA fuel tax.
Quarterly Returns
Required for for-hire carriers operating solely within New Mexico, where applicable. This intrastate authority is separate from federal interstate operating authority and is paired with state registration through the Motor Vehicle Division.
